Abstract
Natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is an aggressive lymphoma. Glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1) is a prevalent isoform with reported roles in various tumors and prognostic implications. However, GPX1‘s role in NKTCL remains unclear. This study’s aim is to explore the association of GPX1 expression with NKTCL.
To explore GPX1 expression in NKTCL, we employed GEO2R to identify DEGs (Differentially-expressed genes) from GSE80632 (NKTCL and normal samples) in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Gene Ontology (GO) terms and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis was employed to perform the biological processes enrichment. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) confirmed GPX1 expression in 76 NKTCL cases. Kaplan-Meier survival curves assessed OS, while Cox regression and Logistic analyses studied GPX1‘s clinical associations.
GPX1, among the top ten of 3362 DEGs, distinguished NKTCL from normal tissue. High GPX1 expression correlated with advanced-stage disease and poor initial treatment outcomes. Logistic analysis found no significant clinical feature association. Patients with high GPX1 expression had lower OS.
GPX1 could serve as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for NKTCL patients.
